On 21st February the 2M Group hosted its first ever ‘Bring Your Kids to Work’ day.
33 children (aged between 5 and 15) attended the 2M STEM Centre which was buzzing with science demonstrations. Every child had the opportunity to mix formulations, under the careful instruction of 2M’s STEM Ambassadors, who volunteered from across the business and were trained by the Surfachem laboratory team.
All the staff at 2M House were involved and the children engaged in a range of activities. These included:
- Science experiments including glitter volcanoes
- Age appropriate periodic table lectures and games
- Making hair gels and shampoos from 2M’s personal care ingredients
- Learning about what molecules really look like and building molecular bonds
Dr Maggie Kessler, co-owner of 2M and Export Director actually started her career as a Chemistry teacher so she was aware first-hand the impact that an access to Science education can have on a young persons’ life. The day was driven by her vision to open 2M House to children for a very ‘hands on’ experience.
The day was a huge success enjoyed by both the team and their little ones, with a many budding scientists leaving the 2M House at the end of the day!
Thanks to the wonderful team for making it possible.
